Hounslow Christian Fellowship - Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit saith the Lord

"And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs, for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world,to gather them together for the war of the great day of God,the Almighty.(16:13,14)
The dragon, the beast and the false prophet will know that the final battle is at hand and will mobilise all their forces to resist the expected attack from heaven. To get the support in this battle of the kings of the earth, special methods of deception will be used.
John sees three spirits which are demons, coming out of the mouth of each of this trinity of evil.It is something similar to the lying spirit which was in the mouth of Ahab's prophets in 1 Kings 22:23. The Beast,as political leader of the world, can be expected to warn the kings of the earth of their doom if the Lamb succeeds in the battle.
There must be a reason why these demon deceivers are seen as frogs. The only other reference to frogs in scripture is in Exodus 8 and the Psalms which refer to that plague on Egypt, in the time of Moses and Aaron. In Egypt the frog was worshipped as a symbol of the great Nature Goddess. The Egyptians of that time might have thought that the demon goddess was destroying them at Jehova's request.

"And they gathered them together to the place which in Hebrew is called Armageddon" v.16. The Antichrist will gather the armies of the nations into the vast  Plain of Esdraelon where the town of Har-Magedon or Armageddon is the central point. To the north of this plain lies Nazareth,1,400 feet above sea-level.To the west, the Great Sea,the Mediterranean with the Jordan to the east. From Nazareth one can look out on this great plain of which Napoleon once said,"all the armies of the world could be gathered here".One can imagine the Lord Jesus,in His youth, standing outside Nazareth and the drama of His people's past battles in that plain, passing before His soul.In this plain the conquerors of Palestine have fought over the centuries.

"Behold I come as a thief.Blessed is the one who keeps his garments, lest he walk about naked and men see his shame".This is the last of a series of passages where Christ's coming as a thief is mentioned. The other places are Luke 12:39,1 Thes 5:2,2 Peter 3:10,11,Rev 3:3.If the coming of our Lord as a thief is to take place at any other point prior to the point now reached in the End Days, its mention here is beyond explanation. There can be no danger from an event which has already taken place. If the thief has come and gone the danger is already passed. This picture is taken from a practise prevalent in the Temple at the time of John's writing:during the night, the Captain of the Temple made his rounds. As he approached, the Temple guards had to rise and salute him.Any guard found asleep on duty was beaten or his clothes were set on fire. This exhortation is to believers who,as it were, are on Temple guard. We are like watchmen in the holy house of God.The Captain of that house gives no notice as to the hour he will inspect the guard. So the soldier must keep awake during the whole of his watch in order that he may keep his clothes and not be found naked.

When the angel poured out the 7th Bowl,a great voice came out of the Temple from the throne of God saying:"It is done"
In v.18 we read of four things:1. Lightnings. 2.Voices. 3.Thunders.4.An earthquake, the greatest ever known in human history.
In Isaiah ch 29 we read of a desolation of Jerusalem(Ariel) by siege resulting in a sudden destruction of the enemy. As a result, the Terrible One(Antichrist) is brought to nothing(v.20)and "Jacob shall not now be ashamed"(v.22).Clearly this destruction of the Terrible One while he is destroying Jerusalem is the same event as that described in Zechariah ch 14 some 300 years after Isaiah's prophecy. The siege and overthrow of the City are described in vss 1 and 2 and the Jews are sent into captivity. Some time later, the Antichrist returns to utterly destroy Jerusalem but then, suddenly the Lord returns to the Mount of Olives followed by the armies of heaven and the Antichrist and his armies, now gathered around Jerusalem, are defeated. In both these prophecies Jerusalem's deliverance is accompanied by an earthquake(Isa 29:6).In Zechariah's prophecy the earthquake causes the City to be split in 3 parts to form a great valley. It would therefore seem that this great earthquake marks the descent of the Word of God to the Mount of Olives and the destruction of the Beast.
Thus He will come first to the air during Bowl 6,as a thief to remove the watchful of His people(1 Thes 4:16,17) then later, under Bowl 7,as the Lord of Hosts.
The 7th Bowl finishes with a terrible storm of hail, each hailstone weighing about 45kg.This is the scene described in Isaiah 30:30-33 where the coming of the Lord to defeat the Assyrian(Antichrist)with fire rain and hailstones is described.
